Aza-Direct Out-Performs the Competition
Aza-Direct is manufactured using a patented aqueous extraction process of whole seeds from the Indian neem tree. This process yields a higher concentration of biologically active compounds azadirachtin A & B as well as adding over sixty bioactive limonoids. The process also yields a cleaner extract,
that is very low in inactive oils and other contaminants compared to others
using harsh solvents.
Blended with UV inhibiting and translaminar promoting natural plant extracts, Aza-Direct maximizes the biological activity of its active ingredient.
Aza-Direct Fits Logically in a Pest Management System
Aza-Direct, like other bio-pesticides, must be applied very early in the development of a pest population when pests are small and before damage has occurred. The greatest activity is expressed on immature stages, causing delayed or incomplete molting, pupation, and adult emergence. It is also active on adults as a repellent and feeding deterrent.
The growth regulating properties of Aza-Direct act only on immature insects that ingest treated tissue. Predators and parasites escape the effects of Aza-Direct because they are not directly feeding on residues.
Aza-Direct provides control of populations resistant to conventional
insecticides and can be an effective tool in resistance management programs.
How to Get the Best Performance from Aza-Direct
Coverage is critical to the performance of Aza-Direct. It is locally systemic and lasts up to seven days at active concentrations in the leaf. Applications should be made in adequate spray volumes to ensure thorough coverage. The need for additional adjuvants in the spray tank is reduced due to the natural oil formulated in Aza-Direct and is
dependent on pest pressure and plant stage of growth. Aza-Direct is rain fast after three hours of drying on the leaf surface.
For best results Aza-Direct should be applied at first sign of pest presence and then every 7 to 14 days until the crop is beyond danger from target pests.
Aza-Direct is pH sensitive in the spray tank. Water should be buffered to pH 6.0-6.5 before adding Aza-Direct.
Pests that Aza-Direct is Most Active Against
In recent U.S. field trials, Aza-Direct has shown the most consistent activity on leafminers, green peach and cabbage aphids, cabbage looper, beet armyworm, diamondback moth, and whiteflies compared to competitive azadirachtin products. The lettuce aphid is inconsistently controlled with Aza-Direct, due to its presence deep within the head on new untreated foliage that is difficult to contact with foliar sprays.
